Begüm Alural is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Perlis Lab with a PhD in Neuroscience from Dokuz Eylul University and a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Istanbul University. Her doctoral thesis investigated microRNA-expression changes in induced pluripotent stem cells derived from patients with bipolar disorder. Her research background combines neuroscience, molecular genetics, and stem-cell approaches to studying psychiatric disease, and includes postdoctoral experience at the University of Guelph.
